Catching a glimpse of a Yorkshire
game from a considerable distance
off during the Cambridge Area
Championships, my companion
asked if it was "Romper"
bowling. Before I could reply she said "yes, it is". I asked how she knew from that distance ... "watch the 'kick'" I was told, and take it from me, you can tell  it's Clare from several hundred yards!

  • [2003] The game against New Zealand on 30th January 2003 in the World Series was Clare's 100th appearance for England at the sport!  A truly remarkable career which shows no signs of flagging!
     

  • [2002] At the Jersey match against India, Clare was presented with a trophy marking her 100th wicket in international cricket, taken during that game. She is the first English player to reach this milestone achieved before only by Catherine Fitzpatrick, Lynn Fullston (both Australia) and Diana Edulji (India).
     

  • [2000]
    Clare was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for her international cricket, international soccer and work with schools etc as a Sports' Ambassador! She was Bowler of the Series against India in 1999.
  • [1998]
    Clare has remained England's front line seam bowler during the 1998 season against Australia. Particularly "flat" wickets have not helped the seamers on either side in 1998, but she, and Lucy Pearson, remain the pick of the England crop. 
  • [1997]
    An international soccer player as well as cricketer, Clare Taylor is an essential part of the England attack. 
  •  A driver for the Royal Mail, she is no slouch with the bat and a stand with Suzie Redfern at the close of the last day undoubtedly saved England in the Guildford Test against New Zealand in 1996. I did not see the famous Watson/Bailey stand many years ago, but, watching, I wondered if the tension had been like this ...
